1. Baker Mayfield

It is hard to evaluate where Baker Mayfield is as a starter in this league considering the teams he has been a part of and the injuries that have plagued him the past two seasons. Mayfield is a great backup option or a fringe starting signing Mayfield to compete with Ridder would be a solid move for a player who finally broke the playoff curse in Cleveland.

After watching the Browns for a season without Mayfield it is clear their problems were a lot deep than their quarterback. The team overpaid for Deshaun Watson who played poorly late in the season and thus far hasn’t been an upgrade over Baker.

Mayfield isn’t the most talented quarterback option for Atlanta but the edge and attitude he plays with elevates his talent. If the Falcons decide to move forward with Ridder they are going to provide competition for the second-year quarterback and Mayfield would be a great option. Having won a playoff game and started for three teams over the last two years Baker brings a level of experience that would help push Ridder.
