4. Mariota steps away from the NFL

It shouldn’t be at all shocking if Marcus Mariota decides to step away from the league entirely. Whether it is actual retirement or exploring a starting opportunity in one of the new off-season leagues. Marcus clearly isn’t going to be starting NFL games next season after being patient and rebuilding his value with the Raiders.

The way things went in Atlanta had to take a toll on a quarterback who not only didn’t complete the comeback story but took a step back from when he was a starter with the Titans. Whether it is starting in a lesser league or taking a season away from football or retiring altogether it wouldn’t be shocking if this is the last we see of Mariota for at least a season in the league.

Marcus would be a great addition to the XFL giving the league a much-needed headline quarterback if it is brought back next season. Marcus would get the chance to start and perhaps rebuild a bit of value after a rough season in Atlanta.
