The Atlanta Falcons are primed to be big players when free agency officially kicks off on March 15th. There is a multitude of talented players who could sign with the Falcons to help them reach their ultimate goal—their first Lombardi trophy.

Pro Football Focus also sees them as big players as they have them landing three of their top 50 free agents. Two of these players would join a defense that needs all the help they can get and the other would be re-joining the Falcons’ offense after a breakout season.

PFF has the Atlanta Falcons signing three of their top 50 free agents

Pro Football Focus has its own way of doing things, some like it and some don’t. They rely heavily on grading players and also factor in prior success and potential to put together their list of the top 50 free agents headed for the open market. A lot of those 50 players will be linked to the Atlanta Falcons.

More specifically, they believe that safety Jessie Bates, edge rusher Jadeveon Clowney, and their own right tackle Kaleb McGary will be signed by the Atlanta Falcons.

Jessie Bates is certainly the most notable, they even have him ranked as their fourth-best free agent. Here is what they said about the possible signing:

"The Falcons have a need at safety, and Bates could be a good fit, especially since they hired Ryan Nielsen, the New Orleans Saints‘ co-defensive coordinator in 2022. Richie Grant is a solid safety for Atlanta, and the Falcons move him all around the field, but they could upgrade Jaylinn Hawkins‘ spot, as he has never graded above 60.0 in his career. Nielsen was part of a Saints coaching staff that always had quality safeties on the roster, such as Marcus Maye, Tyrann Mathieu, Marcus Williams, Vonn Bell and Malcolm Jenkins. Bates can step into Williams’ previous role at free safety, and he also has the capability to play in the box and succeed in Atlanta."

We have talked about it before, Jessie Bates seems like he with be signing with the Falcons. There are just too many signs to ignore.

As for the others, Jadeveon Clowney might not be the most exciting player but this team needs all the help they can get at the position and, unfortunately, it is a weak group of edge rushers this year. And then Kaleb McGary obviously makes a lot of sense, he was a great fit for Arthur Smith’s offense this past season and sometimes it is better to stick with the player you know, rather than the one you don’t.

Hopefully, we will see Terry Fontenot sign more than just three of the top 50 free agents, but even if he doesn’t, it is still more exciting than in past years.
