Until it becomes clear which direction the Atlanta Falcons are going at the position the focus remains on what Atlanta does at quarterback. The Falcons currently have only two quarterbacks on the roster in Logan Woodside and Desmond Ridder.

Building around Ridder is the obvious move, however, the Falcons have been clear they will add to the position during the off-season. Whether this is a veteran to compete with or a starting option remains to be seen.

It is difficult to see a clear path for Atlanta at the position partly due to Smith’s poor decision to stick with Marcus Mariota for so long. That decision cost the Falcons valuable time to further evaluate Ridder and perhaps have a clearer idea of the quarterback’s potential.

Despite the lack of reps Atlanta’s best move at the position is clear as long as Atlanta has a reliable backup plan behind the second-year quarterback.
