Atlanta Falcons are the perfect fit for Leonard Floyd
By Nick Halden
A number of current Rams should interest the Atlanta Falcons as the Rams are attempting to shed cap and rebuild. While Jalen Ramsey has already been talked about as a potential fit for Atlanta and even better and less costly option emerged early this week with the news that Floyd is on the trade market or will be released.
Floyd is a former Chicago Bear which over the past two seasons certainly indicates the Falcons would have a level of interest. Add in Floyd’s consistent success as a pass rusher and the fit makes far too much sense for the Falcons not to explore either a trade or bringing in the veteran in free agency if released.
Floyd was born in Atlanta and went to college at Georgia returning home to help a desperate Atlanta pass rush would be a great fit for both sides. Floyd has 47.5 career sacks and 103 quarterback hits thru his first seven seasons in the league.
Floyd was drafted by the Bears and played out his rookie deal before joining forces with Aaron Donald and helping the Rams win a title against the Bengals a season ago. Floyd has 5.0 career playoff sacks playing at a high level during the team’s run to the Super Bowl.
Atlanta could be content bringing back Lorenzo Carter and adding Floyd allowing the team to add two affordable but capable edge rushers needing only to then fix the inside. Adding Floyd and signing help for Grady Jarrett should be more than enough to improve the Atlanta pass rush and give Atlanta the ability to be completely flexible in the first three rounds of the draft taking a pass rusher only if they truly believe it is the best player on the board. Floyd joins Allen Robinson and Jalen Ramsey as current Rams expected to be either cut or traded in the next two months.
