The Atlanta Falcons' final 53-man roster is beginning to take shape, and the big question on every fan's mind was about the quarterback position... But I'm not referring to who will get the start, it's about whether or not rookie Jack Strand would make the initial roster after a strong summer.
Strand was the breakout star of the Falcons' three preseason games and developed something of a cult following among the fanbase. Practically everyone wanted to see him survive roster cuts and win the QB3 job over Cooper Rush, and the good news here is that the Passtronaut isn't going anywhere.

Per the AJC's Daniel Flick, the undrafted rookie has reportedly made Atlanta's initial 53-man roster out of training camp despite spending most of the summer behind Rush in the QB pecking order. Ultimately, it sounds like they knew they couldn't risk waiving him and another team snatching him up.

It's the news that most Falcons fans were waiting all summer for: Jack Strand played his way onto the 53-man roster. For a former D2 standout, what he accomplished this summer is practically unheard of, as the track record of success for even FCS QBs is small, let alone QBs who didn't play D1 ball.
The Minnesota State-Morehead product's story is incredible, as he majored in engineering physics in college and was preparing to work for NASA. And for a guy who turned down major NIL compensation to leave the Dragons for a possible P4 team, it's nice to know he's getting his shot.
Now that the elephant in the room is finally been addressed in regards to the 22-year-old's own status, we have seen some smaller questions be answered as well. For starters, we now know rather than Rush being released, the Dirty Birds are going to roster four QBs in a Kevin Stefanski classic.
That was always the expectation since for all the rumors surrounding a Tua Tagovailoa trade, that was never happening. But regardless, Strand may start off as the QB4 and work his way into that QB3 role--and could eventually become a backup if god forbid one of Tua or Michael Penix Jr. get hurt.
Jack Strand has been a player Falcons fans have been excited about all summer, and putting him on the practice squad for him to become another team's developmental project would have been a mistake--so I guess it's a good thing Ian Cunningham and Kevin Stefanski knew better than to risk it.
