3 NFC quarterbacks clearly ahead of Kirk Cousins in NFC and 2 who aren't
By Nick Halden
Matthew Stafford
If we're going to have that debate it is only fair to bring Matthew Stafford into the conversation. The veteran quarterback has proven there are few who can do more with what he has been given in his career. Yes, the team that Stafford won the Super Bowl on was loaded.
Go back and consider the teams he was a part of in Detroit and how much was put on the young quarterback from the time he was drafted. Stafford continues to defy expectations leading an underwhelming Rams roster to the playoffs in the 2023 season.
Matthew is the most accomplished quarterback in the conference and has an argument as the best starter. What makes Stafford a better option than Cousins is the longevity, numbers, and playoff wins. We know what Stafford is capable of in the biggest moments and we have never seen Cousins on that stage.
There are throws that the veteran still makes with regularity that only a handful of this league's starters can make. He continues to go out and play at a high level and often gets overlooked for the flashier or more interesting stories. Stafford deserves immense respect for the career he has had and the level he has continued to play.
