4 Kansas City Chiefs the Atlanta Falcons should fear most in Week 3 matchup
By Nick Halden
3. Rashee Rice
While there are questions about what the future might hold for the primary Kansas City Chiefs receiver for now he is starting and on the field. Last Sunday against the Patriots Rice was running simple slant routes or finding a hole in zone defense and sitting down to take the ball for a big play. Mahomes and Andy Reid understand Rice is their best weapon.
Take away the primary receiver and with the injury at running back who do you trust to make a play? Atlanta's main focus as they face a short week of preparing for the best team in football should be taking away Rice. The best strategy is likely to have A.J. Terrell take the second receiver and consistently double-team Rice.
His importance to this offense is that high especially with Pacheco out for the next 6-8 weeks. Sit back and make Mahomes throw the ball to someone else to beat you. If he does or the Chiefs' run game gets going you have to tip your cap and understand it likely isn't your night. This receiving group is still very thin and exposing the depth behind Rice is Atlanta's best chance.
