Minutes after the Falcons made their selection it was made known that the fanbase wasn't alone in their shock. The front office didn't tell Kirk that this was coming until they were on the clock and locked into the selection. This seems like a terrible move that proves you haven't learned from your mistakes.

Matt Ryan's retirement with Atlanta doesn't take away how the owner and front office bungled his exit. It was because they had no backup plan and lacked communication with their franchise star. You just added Kirk Cousins to a record deal and waited less than a month to repeat this process.

Atlanta's front office deserves every bit of the criticism and heat they are receiving. Perhaps in two years, we look back and they will be proven right. But what about in the immediate? If you believe in Kirk Cousins as much as the money says you do couldn't a top-ten pick be the difference-maker in a potential playoff berth?
