The Atlanta Falcons appeared to stumble upon a solid quarterback plan for the 2026 season when Michael Penix Jr. led the team to a Week 3 win against the Green Bay Packers, and rookie wide receiver Zachariah Branch sees better days ahead for this offense as a unit.
In an exclusive interview with FanSided on behalf of Oral-B and Crest, Branch, who said he was thrilled to remain in the state of Georgia and stay close to his family, sounded as optimistic as anyone when discussing Penix. To hear Branch tell it, Penix's arm and leadership may take Atlanta over the top.
"It's very exciting," the rookie Branch said of the team's new-look offense with Penix at the helm. "We had all the confidence in him to go out there and do what he did. Playing with a guy like that makes you want to be on your A-game on the field...he can make any throw on the field."

Branch, who was very complimentary of head coach Kevin Stefanski for rallying the team after a 0-2 start, caught one pass for seven yards in the win against Green Bay while also starting to establish himself as the team's primary kick and punt returner. Not bad for someone who was selected in the third round.
Branch and the Falcons may have found themselves a quarterback, as Penix was able to give their passing game a major upgrade despite playing on the road in a hostile Green Bay environment. Penix may be capable of fully utilizing many of the high-end weapons Atlanta has on the roster, including Branch.
Bijan Robinson, who Branch called "simply different," may be the best running back in the sport right now. Drake London is one of the most talented wide receivers in the league when he gets adequate volume, and tight end Kyle Pitts remains a matchup nightmare when he is utilized properly on offense.

Branch may end up putting the league on notice if he can fulfill his tremendous potential. With game-breaking speed and enough football IQ to already earn some trusted reps as a returner, Branch has been entrusted to be one of the key young players that new executive Matt Ryan is using to reinforce his roster.
With Penix at the helm and Branch slowly adapting to the professional game, the Falcons may be laying the foundation to eventually take full ownership of the NFC South. Perhaps Branch can start to channel Cliff Branch, a Hall of Fame great-uncle whom Branch would love nothing more than to emulate.
