Thoughts On CFB – Florida @ LSU
By Jamie Kelly
Each week, I will attempt to watch at least two college football games in full and post my thoughts here on Blogging Dirty after the game.
I looked at the game between Oklahoma and Texas earlier. I will now look at the Florida – LSU matchup. LSU were in control throughout but Florida had their moments, which they deserve credit for considering both QB John Brantley and QB Josh Driskell were injured and couldn’t play. By the way what was the deal with the “taunting” call made little sense too me.
Anyhow, Let’s have a look at a few of the players that featured today:-
- I have to start with LSU Corner Tyrann Matheiu. This kid is a pure playmaker, for me he is the most exciting defensive player in college football right now. Although he will not be eligible for the 2012 draft, as he is only a sophomore, the hype train is starting build some serious momentum. When it gets round to his pre draft evaluation, people will say he is too small at 5-9 and will struggle to play against bigger WR in the NFL. Although his height is an issue he makes up for it with fantastic ball skills. Can’t wait to see him play again!
- Other LSU CB Morris Clayborne shouldn’t be forgetten about either, he is draft stock is rising and he looks set to be a first rounder at this point. He has good size at 6-0 and looked good today against Florida, except for the Florida TD, where he had good coverage on the WR but slipped over and allowed the big play. I would say he is very close to overtaking Dre Kirkpatrick as the best corner in the 2012 draft class.
- Florida running backs Jeff Demps and Chris Rainey will both certainly get a look as a change of pace back because of their electrifying speed. I think Demps will go sub 4.3 at the combine!
- LSU QB Jarrett Lee played well again today, continuing his fine start to the season. If he carries this on, he could be a late round pick in April.
