What Should The Falcons Do With Their First-Round Pick This Year?

Ben Grazebrook: With their first round pick in the 2014 draft the Falcons should draft Jadeveon Clowney, whether this means drafting him at number 6 or trading up and getting him. Clowney has to be the number one target for the Falcons heading into the draft.

Ben Sullivan: Surprise, surprise, I’m the lone outsider on this one. I think Atlanta shouldn’t give up too much to move up and get Clowney. Instead, they should either sit tight, or even trade down, and take an offensive lineman. Clowney is a beast, and will be a great pro, but I have real concerns about giving up a king’s ransom to get him. Sit tight, take a tackle like Greg Robinson or Jake Matthews, and address the D-Line later in the draft.

Robert Stephens: I believe they should attempt to trade up to the second overall position and draft Jadaveon Clowney.  The Rams may not be as unforgiving as they were with Washington when they traded up for RGIII.

Jake Bennett: I fully expect Dimitroff to go defense with the first pick.  Clowney tops the chart in my draft “wishlist”, and I really hope he’s the one we leave Radio City Music Hall with on Day 1. The pass rush has been the downfall of this team in the last 6 years, with the only legitimate threat coming from the now absent John Abraham.  Atlanta must find a way to put some pressure of opposing quarterbacks.  If not, we’re in for another long year in 2014.
