Matt Ryan: “Cut it Loose, Enjoy it and Play With Confidence”
Matt Ryan has been here before. Last season he had to deal with a plethora of injuries to key pieces on the offense. He didn’t flinch as he still threw for over 4,000 yards while being sacked 44 times. Ryan never complained, never made excuses all he did was go out and try to win games.

This week Ryan has lost two of his starting offensive lineman to IR as Justin Blalock health remains questionable. Let’s not forget he lost starting left tackle Sam Baker for the season during a preseason game which forced rookie Jake Matthews to left tackle. Jake also missed a game due to an ankle injury. With all that chaos going on Matt Ryan had this to say:
"“Guys have worked really hard,” Ryan said of the OL. “(Falcons offensive line coach) Mike Tice does a great job of keeping all of those guys prepared every week. I think certain guys are getting their opportunity. It’s a great chance for them to showcase what they can do and how good they can be. My thing is to cut it loose, enjoy it and play with a lot of confidence.”"
Those are words of a true leader.
He is not looking to make excuses. His words don’t suggest that he expects a drop offense in the offense. He is saying that these guys are pro’s and they expect them to perform that way. Most players in the league would have started off by saying how those guys will be missed and they will but there is nothing he can do about that now. He has to play against the Giants with the 53 man roster that he has and no one understands that better than Matt Ryan. He has definitely earned the title “Matty Ice”. We got to see a lot of his leadership traits during hard knocks and he is constantly leading the Falcons with his performance on Sundays.
