Atlanta Falcons vs Chicago Bears Preview and Projection
The Atlanta Falcons take on the Chicago Bears tomorrow at the Georgia Dome. If the first few weeks of the season are an indication of things to come expect to see plenty of offense in tomorrow’s game. The Falcons boast the third ranked offense in the league scoring 30 points per game. while their defense has been the polar opposite, giving up an average of 28 points per game.
Chicago’s defense hasn’t fared much better giving up an average of 26 points per game this season. Their offense has averaged 23 points per game and will look to take advantage of defense that cannot seem to stop the run or the pass.

The Bears have a guy that can really spin the ball in Jay Cutler and they boast two of the best wide receivers in the league in Brandon Marshall and Alshon Jeffery. Both receivers are big, fast and physical. As if those two weren’t enough, Chi city have arguably one of the best tight ends in the league today in Martellus Bennett, and a relentless running back in Matt Forte who is also a threat in the passing game.
The Falcons have lacked the ability to rush the passer all season long, so what we can expect is for Jay Cutler to sit in a clean pocket while the Bears find the end zone several times on Sunday afternoon.
On the other side of the spectrum the Falcons are loaded on offense.
Matt Ryan has already thrown for over 1,500 yards this season ranking him second among NFL quarterbacks. Julio Jones is having an outstanding season and he still has the veteran Roddy White to throw passes to. Harry Douglas is out for the third consecutive week which will definitely hurt the offense however playmaker Devin Hester will step in to fill third wide receiver position. The Falcons will lean on Steven Jackson for tough runs and look to Jacquizz Rodgers, Antone Smith and rookie Devonta Freeman to make big plays in the running game.
Projection: This is going to be a shootout. With Lance Briggs out the Bears don’t have much on defense unless the old Brian Urlacher decides to come back. Kyle Fuller will be tested early whomever he goes against, it’s about time the rookie faces an elite receiver. On the other hand the Atlanta Falcons don’t have much to say about their defense, so I think the game will be a score of 33-30, with the win going to the Atlanta Falcons. It’s at Georgia Dome, and the Dirty Birds will play as if this game is a must-win.
