When you think of Ryan Mathews, does the word injury prone pop into your head?

It probably does, but I’ve watched every single Chargers game last season and to me, these traits are what define running back Ryan Mathews.

  • Patient: Have you ever seen a patient running back play football? It makes a fan truly appreciate the art of running the football. A patient running back is hard to find today, and you only see this rare trait in a few players such as Le’veon Bell (just ask ANY Steleer fan). Trust me, Mathews has patient written all over him. Don’t believe me?
  • Explosive: Again, just look at that explosiveness after the patient cut into the hole. Mathews isn’t just a guy that churns out tough yards, but he has the potential to break off the home runs as well.

I do admit that Mathews is probably the most riskiest pick-up in the whole league, but this is a kid that is a good influence in the locker room, stays patient in his runs, and can be the best pick-up of the 2015 NFL season by any team. Not to mention, he won’t be expensive with his injury history, which makes him the biggest bargain of this off-season.
