What will Atlanta Falcons’ 2015 season record be?

Will the Atlanta Falcons improve in 2015? Almost certainly. How many wins will they finish on at the beginning of January? That’s a little harder to predict.

Dan Quinn is on a mission to take Atlanta back to the playoffs, but can he do it in his first season as head coach? For it to happen, he will need the defense to improve in a big way.

First and second round draft picks, Vic Beasley and Jalen Collins, will play a key role in rebuilding the ailing unit, as will free agent acquisitions Brooks Reed and Justin Durant.

New offensive coordinator Kyle Shanahan will be aiming to make the Falcons’ offense even better. Led by Matt Ryan, Atlanta already boasts one of the NFL’s top passing games with superstar receiver Julio Jones. Roddy White can still be productive as the No. 2 wideout, and rookie Justin Hardy will likely find a home in the slot.

The running back position is where it gets interesting. The Falcons have underachieved on the ground for too long, but now have a battle between Devonta Freeman and Tevin Coleman to be the starting back. Freeman will be looking to make a strong impact in his second year — the biggest jump a player makes is between year one and two in the NFL. Coleman will be aiming to fly out of the gates as a rookie.

We asked you, the readers to vote on who you thought should be the starting running back for the Falcons, and it was tight. Freeman won with a 53 percent of the vote, edging out the rookie Coleman.

The fact it’s so tight is great news for the Falcons — there isn’t a clear favorite to win the job, which means Atlanta could have a strong 1-2 punch in the backfield this season.

There has been a lot of change for the Falcons, and they will surely get better. How much better, however? What do you think the Falcons’ 2015 record will be? Vote below and be sure to leave a comment with why you think that.
