Jeremy Maclin

Is Jeremy Maclin the man to finally give the Kansas City Chiefs a touchdown from a receiver? Possibly. Is he going to be a stud in your fantasy lineup? Not so fast.

Yes, Maclin is coming off the back of a monster season with the Eagles, racking up 85 receptions for 1,318 yards and ten touchdowns. This excellent performance got him paid in Kansas City, but don’t expect similar production this term.

Unlike with Chip Kelly’s Eagles, finding joy in the Chiefs system will be difficult. Alex Smith isn’t a quarterback who will pick out his receivers often enough from a fantasy perspective. He won’t go an entire year without picking out a wideout for a touchdown, but Maclin’s production will suffer.

Late on, you may be able to find some value in Maclin, but don’t get too excited if he’s there for you in the first few rounds.

Offensively, the Chiefs will be leaning on Jamaal Charles a lot. The running back rushed for 1,033 yards and nine touchdowns last term and should still be one of the league’s premier backs.

When Smith does get the football in his hands, watch out for tight end Travis Kelce. Kelce is an emerging star; he caught 67 passes for 862 yards and five scores last season.

Unless he’s available late on, don’t take Maclin.
