The Atlanta Falcons have a heated full back battle, and Collin Mooney bolstered his way up the depth chart after a great showing in the second preseason game. Matt Ryan’s first completion of the game was to Mooney who turned a busted play into a 60-yard catch and run deep into Jets territory.
Patrick DiMarco is the other man in contention for that starting full back spot. He on the other hand didn’t have a great day. DiMarco caught one ball for zero yards and didn’t carry the ball at all. Mooney not only brings a big body into the Falcons’ offense, but he is a tremendous special teams player as well. His ability to play special teams at a high level will likely win him the starting job over DiMarco.
