Cornerback: Desmond Trufant, Atlanta Falcons
Trufant often slips under the radar, but he’s easily a top-5 cornerback in the NFL. His ability in coverage is exceptional. He allowed just two touchdowns last season. At just 24 years old, his best football is in front of him and he is a star in the Atlanta defense.
Cornerback: Alterraun Verner, Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Verner is a top run-stopping cornerback, but he finds some difficulties in coverage. Missing tackles was an issue for him last season too. Nevertheless, he’s still a strong starter and has the talent to make this team.
Safety: Jairus Byrd, New Orleans Saints
Byrd is coming off a disastrous 2014 season after a big-money move to New Orleans last offseason. He was placed on injured reserve in October, but had disappointed even before the injury. Despite that, he was considered as one of the league’s top safeties before his move to the Saints and could bounce back this season.
Safety: Tre Boston, Carolina Panthers
Boston is good in coverage with a combination of size and speed. One of the best parts of his game is tackling. Boston only missed two tackles last season and he has the ability to make plays all over the field.
