Atlanta Falcons: What is wrong with Roddy White?

The Atlanta Falcons have had one of the best receiving corps in the NFL thus far in 2015, but it has been done without the best wide receiver team history.

Roddy White has just four receptions in three games for the Falcons and hasn’t been targeted all that much either. White doesn’t appear to be injured and is still out on the field more times than not, so what is the deal?

White without a doubt has been the best receiver in franchise history. White has 10,441 career yards receiving and 62 touchdowns in his 11-year career and appeared to be off to a good start after catching four passes for 84 yards against the Eagles in week 1, but has not caught a ball since.

In fact, White has not caught a single pass in two consecutive games breaking a streak of at least one catch in a game since 2006. The streak lasted 128 games before it was snapped in the Falcons’ week 2 victory over the Giants. White’s counterpart Julio Jones has set an NFL record with 33 catches through his first three games of the year and has scored four touchdowns.

”I was open, just didn’t get the ball,” White said earlier this week.”We’re 2-0. Nothing really to say. I just didn’t catch a pass. I have moved past it.”

Is it time to start wondering if White is on his way out? Or should we all take a step back and let it all play out? I personally think White will be just fine. He’s out on the field, he’s healthy and he’s drawing a lot of attention from defenders. When White is out on the field, he is going to force defenses to play him tough which helps out all the other receivers on the team as well.

Am I going to start White on my fantasy team any time soon? Absolutely not, but will he make a big impact for the team in the coming weeks? There’s a pretty good chance of it. Let’s see what 84 has left in the tank. Rise up.
