Atlanta Falcons: Game balls from victory over the Tennessee Titans
Welp. Yes it was ugly. Downright ugly. However, I’m an optimistic columnist. In the Atlanta Falcons’ 10-7 victory over the Tennessee Titans, I saw two factors that Falcons fans have been searching for and wanting in recent seasons: A consistent running game and a defense making clutch plays.
Those factors had a major hand in pushing the Falcons to 6-1. With that said, here are my lucky winners for a game ball for their performances.
Julio Jones
Mr. Jones has had better performances. His stat line of nine catches, 92 yards, and one touchdown makes the average Falcons fan say “eh”. The reason Julio gets a game ball is because it was obvious that a No. 2 receiver is truly needed and with all the attention on Jones, he still makes the plays that make you say “wow”. His jump ball for 17 yards on third-and 5 in the fourth quarter was a thing of beauty.
Devonta Freeman
Freeman has made himself comfortable on this list the past few weeks. He didn’t score this week (which feels odd to type) but Freeman churned out 116 yards on the ground and totaled 130 all-purpose yards, displaying his versatility yet again. The passing game has a few things to iron out but Freeman has been trouble for defenses all season.
Defense
No one defender stood out over others but in a game where the offense left points on the field, the defense came through: 256 total yards allowed, two turnovers, and a key turnover on downs late in the fourth.
The two turnovers were arguably the biggest plays of the game as Paul Worrilow prevented a Titans touchdown before the half with his interception in the end zone and Robenson Therezie coming through with another pick as the Titans drove for a potential game tying or winning score.
