Fantasy Football Week 9: Start Em’ Sit Em’ for Falcons-49ers
Looking ahead to this week’s game between the Atlanta Falcons and San Francisco 49ers, you might face some tough fantasy football lineup decisions. Who should you start with confidence and put on your bench? We’ve got you covered.
Start with confidence
Devonta Freeman has earned the right to be a high RB1 no matter the matchup. This week, he’s up against the 49ers run defense, which allows the fourth most to running backs. The Falcons will look to get the ball in hands as often as possible.
Matt Ryan has been disappointing on fantasy this season, but he put up a solid 19.28 points against the Bucs. He draws a good matchup with San Francisco, and should be able to put up points.
Julio Jones looks fully healthy, and when that’s the case he’s one of the best in the game and should be a high end WR1. He will dominate the targets from Ryan again, and should be in line for a good week.
Falcons defense
The 49ers give up the second most points to opposing defenses, and the Falcons’ unit have been surprisingly good when faced with a good matchup. This is such a week.
Be cautious

Jacob Tamme continues to become a trusted option for Matt Ryan, and posted a season-high 16.30 fantasy points last week with 10 receptions for 103 yards and a touchdown. But he needs to prove it on a regular basis to be a trusted TE1.
Torrey Smith is an up-and-down fantasy option as you could imagine, and this makes him hard to trust. He’s a dangerous deep threat, but without Colin Kapernick’s big arm, he may struggle. Play with caution and only if you don’t have enough options due to bye weeks.

Sit
Tevin Coleman’s role on offense is still minimal with Devonta Freeman taking the bulk of the work. Unless there is an injury to Freeman, Coleman should stay on the bench.
Roddy White has been a fantasy disappointment this season and can’t be trusted to put up points consistently.
Avoid any temptation to play Justin Hardy. The rookie made a solid debut but not much in terms of fantasy production. Nick Williams will likely return this week, which could take targets away from Hardy.
Leonard Hankerson is out with a hamstring injury for the second straight week. Even when healthy, his performances have been inconsistent.
49ers defense
The 49ers have the fourth worst defense in fantasy this year, and it could get much worse against the Falcons.
