Atlanta Falcons game balls after Week 9 loss to San Francisco 49ers
For the Atlanta Falcons, the bye week has arrived at a point of the season where the team needs regrouping. After a 5-0 start, the Falcons have slipped the past four weeks and are now sitting at 6-3 with more questions than a 6-3 team should at this point.
The San Francisco 49ers matchup didn’t provide as many stellar performances as we would’ve liked but I still hand out a few game balls to some deserving players.
Eric Weems
Weems has been filling in as the team’s punt and kickoff returner with the absence of Devin Hester. Until the contest against the Niners, Weems has been for the most part non-existent.
But in a game without a whole lot of bright spots, Weems showed up and provided a very useful element with timely returns. Weems provided four kickoff returns for 118 yards with a long of 50 yards and four punt returns for 76 yards with a long of 41.

Very few times have the Falcons fan base walked away from a game saying “how good was Weems today?”, but Sunday was one of them.
Julio Jones
I’m not quite sure where this organization would be without Julio Jones and I don’t even want to think about it. There’s no question he’s the Falcons best player and you can make a legit case that he is the best receiver in the NFL.
Julio doesn’t have much opposite of him yet he still provided 10 catches for 137 yards. His 54-yard catch before halftime was exactly what the Falcons needed. Jones also had the pleasure of going over 1,000 yards (1,029 yards on 80 catches) in just nine games.
