3. The Falcons need someone to step up on offense

It was a much needed bye week for the Atlanta Falcons, and we will now see what this team is made of. To get back to the early season form, the Falcons need someone to step up on offense.

Tevin Coleman gave the Falcons an excellent change of pace against New Orleans, but a costly fumble has kept him on the sidelines. Could a bigger role give the Falcons a spark on offense?

Maybe it’s rookie running back Tevin Coleman. Devonta Freeman has been a consistent performer since breaking out as the starter in Week 3, but the Falcons can ill-afford to burn him out. It’s possible we see more snaps for the rookie runner to add a change of pace in the backfield and give Freeman a chance to rest.

Maybe it’s Leonard Hankerson or Roddy White. Both have under performed as the second receiver this season, and the Falcons have been forced to rely too heavily on Julio Jones. Hankerson has been battling injuries, and White has been a non-factor too often.

Maybe it’s Matt Ryan. Ryan has made uncharacteristic mistakes too often, and better play from “The Man” could elevate the performance of his supporting cast. He’s still one of the league’s top quarterbacks, but more consistency and less mistakes is crucial for the Falcons to regain their confidence on offense.
