The Atlanta Falcons have placed safety William Moore onto injured reserve.

Another transaction has been made for the Atlanta Falcons, with safety William Moore being placed on injured reserve with an ankle injury. He suffered the injury in Sunday’s loss to the Carolina Panthers. Per AtlantaFalcons.com:

"“The Falcons have also placed safety William Moore on injured reserve, waived wide receiver Leonard Hankerson off of injured reserve, and waived wide receiver Devon Wylie off the practice squad.”"

MORE NEWS: Leonard Hankerson released by Falcons

Moore had two interceptions on the year, including a key one in the season opening victory over the Philadelphia Eagles. If you remember, that was when the Falcons actually won games.

Not that any of us remember those warm, happy days. His other came in the blowout victory over the Houston Texans in Week 4.

At this stage, the loss doesn’t matter a whole lot. It’s better to be safe and protect Moore from any further injury. While the Falcons aren’t mathematically out of the race for playoffs, it would take an extremely unlikely set of circumstances for it to happen. And yes, that includes the Falcons winning a game.

The other big news of the day was of course with the announcement that wide receiver Leonard Hankerson, who was previously on injured reserve with a hamstring injury, has been released. What does this mean for the Falcons’ future at the wide receiver position? Well, it would appear they feel Hankerson wasn’t the right man to fill the No. 2 role.
