Jerrell Freeman has been one of the NFL’s most underrated middle linebackers for the last four years. Freeman has spent his time with the Indianapolis Colts since 2012 and has been a tackling machine to say the least. Freeman has hit at least 100 tackles in three out of his four seasons and fell just six tackles short in 2014 despite playing in just 12 games.

Freeman will be 30 at the start of the 2016 season, so he isn’t a longterm solution for the Atlanta Falcons, but he is more than capable of leading a defense for several more seasons. Freeman doesn’t have a ton of miles on him so his age shouldn’t be all that much of a concern.

If the Falcons do not feel that they can get one of the top inside linebackers in the 2016 NFL draft such as Reggie Ragland, then they might target Freeman in free agency and use their first round pick on a pass rusher such as Robert Nkemdiche.
