Could this be Thomas Dimitroff’s last year with the team?

Yes, The Falcons reorganized their front office to give better support in evaluating players but the end decision still leads back to head coach Dan Quinn.

More from Atlanta Falcons News

Dimitroff has been put on a short leash with owner Arthur Blank giving Dan Quinn more power in roster decisions but that still emit Dimitroff from taking the steps into choosing the right players for the right need. With only five draft picks in this year’s draft and $20-25 million in free salary cap, Dimitroff has to be really careful for who he nominates to join the team.

Much of Dimitroff’s duty is going to be over watched by assistant General Manager Scott Pioli who seems to be first in line to acquire the GM job if Dimitroff is terminated. Dimitroff has been saved by some fans for his part in drafting Julio Jones, Desmond Trufant, Matt Ryan, and Jake Matthews but his ability to make the best choices in free agency has added fuel to the fire.

Assistant General Manager Scott Pioli has been quietly re-joining ranks with his former colleagues like Joel Collier Director of Pro Personnel and National Scout Phil Emery both worked with Pioli back in Kansas City. Not saying that Pioli is gunning for Dimitroff’s job but the Falcons are slowly becoming filled with both his front office personnel and players.

This season is without a doubt and critical one that be judged off of what happens this offseason to Dimitroff. The best thing for him for to do right now is sit and make the best possible choices that can help the team in both short-term and long-term.
