The week that everyone has been waiting for has finally arrived. NFL free agents will be making their way around the league to visit and interview with new teams with ultimate goal of signing a new contract.

The Atlanta Falcons have been liked to a couple of top free agents but no reports have been made of any scheduled interviews. While this doesn’t come as a surprise knowing the Falcons’ history, or lack there of of signing top-notch free agents, Atlanta should still be in the running for almost every player out there.

The Falcons have gone through a lot in the past few days. First they cut one of the most beloved players in franchise history, Roddy White and then were put on blast for asking potential draft prospects what their sexual orientation was.

It’s pretty safe to say that the Falcons and their fan base are in dire need of some good news and that would easily be solved by the team going out and signing a marquee player. Not only would it give the fans something positive to think about, it would also pay dividends toward solving one or two of their huge holes that they need to fill before the start of next season.

Atlanta always seems to miss out on the top free agents minus a player here and there. They can’t afford to do that in 2016. They won’t be able to fill all of their holes via the 2016 NFL draft so they will have to fix some of their issues in free agency and signing some middle of the pack players isn’t going to do them any good.

Give us something positive to think about, Falcons. I’m talking to you Thomas Dimitroff, Scott Pioli and Dan Quinn. You guys bring in the Danny Trevathan’s, Bruce Irvin’s, Alex Mack’s, Travis Benjamin’s and whoever else you want to and sign a couple of them.

Is that too much to ask for?
