The Atlanta Falcons must find a way to draft Su’a Cravens
We are just over a day away from the start of the 2016 NFL daft and we still have no idea as to what the Atlanta Falcons will do in the first round. At this point it could go in so many different directions that it’s not even worth mentioning all of them.
But what we do know is that the Falcons are extremely high on Su’a Cravens who is expected to be a second-round pick. Cravens is listed by many people in the NFL to be a linebacker but Cravens started out his career playing safety. And we learned just the other day that Cravens could in fact be a safety in the NFL after teams he has visited told him.

And guess who was on the list of teams Cravens visited? You guessed right. Your very own Falcons were on that list and they seem to be extremely high on the hybrid player. Cravens wen’t into the 2016 combine weighting 226 pounds and measured in at 6-foot-1. For a linebacker those aren’t great number, but for a player that could play strong safety, those are pretty ideal.
There is no secret that the Falcons are in the market for a new strong safety after releasing veteran William Moore. Currently Kemal Ishmael is the only strong safety on the roster and that is a big problem. The Falcons will draft a safety at some point in this draft and why not it be a player that can do a little bit of everything.
Mel Kiper predicted his annual 3-round mock draft and had the Indianapolis Colts drafting Cravens just two picks above the Falcons. That would be extremely disappointing if that turns out to be what happens which would make trading down in the first round look that much better.
If the Falcons were to trade down, they would all but for sure lock up a way to get Cravens. Having multiple second-round picks would allow them to trade back up into the second round if they wanted to, but let’s just hope that Cravens slips through the cracks and falls into the Falcons’ lap at pick 50.
Cravens is going to be a special player and the Falcons need to do everything they can to ensure he ends up on their roster by the conclusion of the draft.
