The Atlanta Falcons begin their mandatory minicamp on Tuesday.

And so the offseason moves on. Organized team activities are out of the way, and the Atlanta Falcons are now ready to begin their mandatory minicamp, running from Tuesday through Thursday.

This is the final step before training camp begins on July 27, and will give the team a chance to show the coaches what they can do ahead of their most important practices in July and August.

By the end of minicamp, head coach Dan Quinn will want to have his playbook all but nailed down so he can begin to work on practicing the schemes throughout camp.

From the players’ perspective, in particular those on the fringe of the roster, it’s another opportunity to flash their talent and show why they need to be on the team. We’re still some way off from the initial roster cuts, but it’s important to make an impact at every possibility.

Here’s the dates and times of the Falcons’ three-day minicamp, from the team’s official website:

"Tuesday, June 14: Practice starts at 11:00 a.m. ** Gates open at 10:00 a.m.Wednesday, June 15: Practice starts at 11:00 a.m. ** Gates open at 10:00 a.m.Thursday, June 16: Practice starts at 11:20 a.m. ** Gates open at 10:30 a.m."

Cornerback is a position of interest. With Robert Alford moving inside to the nickelback spot when the Falcons aren’t in their base defense, an opening arises outside. Akeem King will get an opportunity to make a statement here, especially with second-year Jalen Collins suspended for the first four games of the season.

How is the offensive line looking? The starting quintet looks about set, but there are a number of linemen on the roster hoping to at least earn a roster spot when training camp wraps up.

Following the conclusion of minicamp on Thursday, there will be a six-week break until training camp begins.
