Everything is going exactly according to plan for the Atlanta Falcons after the first two days of Mini Camp. The Falcons are well ahead of where they were at this time last year and that should excite a lot of people for what their immediate future could hold.

The Falcons’ offense is looking stellar. Matt Ryan is throwing dimes to Julio Jones, the offensive line is looking gritty and Devonta Freeman is back and ready to pick up where he left off.

The defense is looking almost as good as the offense. Rookies Deion jones and De’Vondre Campbell have both seen first-team reps at times and the Falcons’ interchangeable defensive line is starting to come together nicely.

It’s hard to pick out a negative at this point. Everyone is doing their job and that’s what it’s going to take in order to catapult this team into the 2016-17 postseason.

If there is one position to keep an eye on going forward, it’s the Falcons’ third cornerback spot.

Jalen Collins might be practicing now, but he’s going to have to sit out the first four games no matter what. That is going to leave an open spot and at this point, it’s anyone’s for the taking. Both Akeem King and DeMarcus Van Dyke have seen reps with the first-team defense, but neither have looked great.

This is a team that is still a long ways away from being where the want to be. But they’re well on their way. Everyone has already bought in and their competitiveness and bonding will only grow in the coming weeks.

Their successful Mini Camp is going to set up a terrific Training Camp that will take place at the end of July. That’s when the real fun starts.
