2. Mohamed Sanu must step up

Usually I don’t believe in hanging a complete team’s season on one player’s efforts, but for Mohamed Sanu I will make an exception. For the Falcons to make the playoffs Sanu has to not only be the gadget player he was but a legitimate receiving threat as well.

The deal that Sanu was given is one that turned a lot of heads. It was one that seems to be an unwise one with a player that is so unproven. Adding an unproven player to an at times anemic offense as your number two receiver does not seem like a wise choice.

Not to say that Sanu has to change his game completely and be a star or that the Falcons playoff hopes rest on that. Rather that he needs to be able to gain trust with Matt Ryan and be a receiving threat while still being the gadget player that Shanahan’s offense is suited for.

Sanu has potential for sure, but on this team potential will not be enough alone. Everything has to come together on both sides of the ball and the offense will have to be able to win some shootouts. Despite what many think, Julio Jones cannot do it alone. If Sanu can play second fiddle to Jones successfully the Falcons offense should roll.
