Super Bowl LI features the No.1 ranked scoring offense of the Atlanta Falcons against the No.1 ranked scoring defense. Who will blink first?
The high-powered Atlanta Falcons look to continue their high scoring ways against the New England Patriots stout defense. New England gives up an average of just less than 16 points a game, while Atlanta scores just less than 34 points a game.
Something will have to give on Sunday. Will the Patriots continue to give up yardage, but hold strong in the red zone? Will the Falcons be able to air it out with probable MVP Matt Ryan?
The Falcons have proved they can put up points against the NFL’s elite defenses.
The Atlanta Falcons are battle-tested when it comes to facing top defenses this year. They have played and beaten the Cardinals, Broncos, Seahawks and Rams. Each was ranked in the top 10 in defensive yards per game.
All four of those opponents also gave up fewer passing yards than the Patriots did this season.

This isn’t all about what the New England Patriots defense can or can’t do or has or hasn’t done. We have to remember what the Falcons have done practically all season long. Matt Ryan has been a passing machine on the way to Atlanta posting the eighth-best scoring offense in NFL history.
The Patriots’ defense is good, but they’re far from record-setting or all-time.
Close game? I honestly do not think so.
Falcons offensive coordinator Kyle Shanahan has complimented the Patriots’ defense. Shanahan’s comments were genuine, but he’d still compliment New England even if he didn’t believe it.

The Atlanta Falcons were slightly favored in both playoff games this postseason, but many pundits still picked against them. The Falcons responded with a pair of blowout wins. The Falcons are the underdog this time, but I think the offense will “Rise Up” to the occasion.
