Vic Beasley will regress statistically

This past season, Falcons pass rusher Vic Beasley was unstoppable. He notched 15.5 sacks and six forced fumbles, leading the NFL in sacks and tied for first in forced fumbles. His speed was something to behold, as it seemed like he could outrun any tackle he was up against.

However, with the signing of defensive tackle Dontari Poe and the drafting of edge rusher Takkarist McKinley, Beasley might not be on the finishing end of as many sacks as last season.

Beasley should still put decent pressure on opposing quarterbacks, but he’ll face significantly more competition for sacks from his new teammates.

Also, as more teams are aware of the damage that Beasley is capable of, he’ll likely face more double teams and plays that run or move the pocket away from him.

In short, the deck will be stacked against Beasley for 2017, and his stat sheet might look a little lighter as a result.
