Atlanta Falcons: Dontari Poe, DT

In 2016, it was clear the Falcons needed help on the defensive line. Though Vic Beasley led the NFL in sacks and Grady Jarrett had a breakout performance in the Super Bowl, Atlanta needed more beef on the line. Addressing this need, the Falcons signed Dontari Poe, a man who could hold his own in the middle and complement a developing Grady Jarrett.

Poe signed a one year, $8 million contract with the Falcons on March 16th, 2017. This is likely a “prove it” contract, where Poe will get a large deal if he performs well in 2017.

While Poe is literally the “biggest” free agency signing, he also has a contract incentive to slim down before the season begins. A more athletic Dontari Poe could give the Falcons defensive line a huge boost in 2017.
