Last night was the 12th annual Atlanta Sports Awards, where “the most accomplished athletes, coaches, teams and outstanding contributors in the Atlanta sports community” are celebrated. Georgia stars and celebrities from several different sports and teams were in attendance.

Three members of the Atlanta Falcons organization received awards.

Quarterback and 2016 NFL Most Valuable Player Matt Ryan deservedly won the Sun Trust Professional Athlete of the Year award. His leadership and excellent play were crucial in the Falcons’ Super Bowl run.

Falcons head coach Dan Quinn received the Home Depot Coach of the Year award. In just his second season in Atlanta, Quinn has turned the Falcons defense around and lead the team to the Super Bowl. He’s certainly given Atlanta fans a lot to look forward to.

Atlanta Falcons owner Arthur Blank was the main event, receiving the Coca Cola Lifetime Achievement Award. Blank is widely considered to be one the best owners in the NFL, and he has also brought Major League Soccer to Atlanta with his purchase of Atlanta United.

The Falcons were also named the PrimeSport Team of the Year, and the final game at the Georgia Dome was named the Mercedes Benz moment of the year. It was a great night to look back on an amazing year for Atlanta Sports, and hopefully next year will be even better.
