Box score at Pro Football Reference

In the 1998 NFC Championship, in one of the biggest playoff upsets of all time, the Atlanta Falcons defeated the Minnesota Vikings in overtime. No one expected the “Dirty Birds” to seriously compete in the playoffs, but they proved the doubters wrong and made a legendary Super Bowl run.

The Vikings were up by 10 late in the game, but Minnesota Kicker Gary Anderson missed a field goal to extend the lead. The Falcons were able to fight back, eventually scoring a touchdown in the final minute of regulation to force overtime.

After a fierce overtime battle with each side getting two possessions, the Falcons had a chance to win with a field goal. Kicker Morten Andersen drilled the 38 yarder and shocked the Metrodome.
