After cruising to a victory over the Green Bay Packers in Week 2, the Atlanta Falcons find themselves No. 1 in several NFL Power Rankings like ESPN and CBS

They struggled in Week 1 to put the Chicago Bears away, but then the Atlanta Falcons reminded us all how high-powered their offense could be in a Week 2 win over the Green Bay Packers. After the big win a couple things happened. One, people finally realized this team wasn’t going to have the Super Bowl hangover everyone was going on and on about. And two, the Dirty Birds started to get some love in the NFL Power Rankings.

Two of the biggest outlets have actually bumped the Falcons up to No. 1 in their rankings following Week 2. Both CBS Sports and ESPN have come out and graded them as the best franchise in the early portion of the season.

ESPN said that not only are they doing fine post-Super Bowl appearance, but that new offensive coordinator Steve Sarkisian should have silenced doubters.

"“Falcons fans can drop any concerns about Steve Sarkisian running the offense. FPI has the Falcons as the second-rated offense so far this season, and Matt Ryan is averaging nearly 10 yards per pass attempt. The Falcons are just the fourth Super Bowl loser to start the next season 2-0.”"

Pete Prisco at CBS said that they are best team, but added injury-plagued to the line about blowing out the Packers — which is funny considering Atlanta had as many stars injured in this game as Green Bay (1). There were more players from Atlanta treated on the sidelines though and Green Bay was supposed to in because they came into the game “healthy,” which makes this comment curious at the very least.

"“The Falcons blew out the injury-plagued Green Bay Packers Sunday night to stake a claim as the best team in the NFC, and right now the top team in my Power Rankings.”"

The rankings make sense as Atlanta is clearly firing on all cylinders given their sudden defensive abilities. They put it all on display again next week against the Detroit Lions, who are coming off a convincing 24-10 Monday Night Football win over the New York Giants.
