Atlanta Falcons are in contract talks with their kicker Matt Bryant.

Atlanta Falcons Kicker Matt Bryant has been extremely effective for the Falcons since he came to Atlanta in 2009 and secured a myriad of wins for the team over that span.

Bryant is set to hit the free agency market as an unrestricted free agent on March 14 and Atlanta will attempt to retain their clutch kicker.

A few days after the Falcons’ divisional playoff loss to the Philadelphia Eagles, Bryant said that he wanted to play at least three more seasons in the NFL with all of them preferrably in Atlanta.

The Falcons have now begun negotiating with Bryant on an extension, according to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution’s D. Orlando Ledbetter.

Bryant’s agent Jordan Woy said more talks will be ongoing in these negotiations.

"“We have talked and more talks are scheduled,” said Woy to the AJC. “Nothing yet, but both sides are working on it.”"

Bryant will turn 43 but his performance has not declined a bit.

Bryant was able to bail the Falcons’ offense out of some ugly games throughout the course of the 2017 season.

In Atlanta’s Week 17 win vs the Carolina Panthers and Wild Card win vs the Los Angeles Rams, he totaled nine field goals.

When the Falcons’ offense had effective drives but came up short of the end zone, Bryant was able to deliver as many of his kicks were 50+ yards.

Aside from resigning Quarterback Matt Ryan to an extension to solidify his entire career as a Falcon, Atlanta should make Bryant one of their top priorities in free agency.

He is the Falcons’ all-time leading scorer and when games come down to the wire, you can virtually expect Bryant to knock field goals down the middle and receive a hard-earned win.

Hopefully the Falcons can lock Bryant in for a few more seasons. A good kicker is hard to find. Just ask the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
