3. 2012 Season

The 2012 season was Matt Ryan’s signature season during the Mike Smith era. The Falcons had a fantastic season finishing 13-3. Their three losses were against the NFC South teams, which means they beat every team on their schedule.

On the year Matt Ryan was elected to the Pro Bowl finishing with 4,719 passing yards, 32 passing touchdowns, 14 interceptions, and a 99.1 passer rating.

The best part of the 2012 season was Matt Ryan winning his first playoff game against the Seattle Seahawks. Coming into the season the biggest criticism against Matt Ryan was not having any playoffs wins even though the Cardinals, Packers, and Giants all went to the Super Bowl after beating the Falcons in the playoffs.

2. 2018 Season

The Falcons finishing 7-9 despite the play from Matt Ryan is unbelievable. Injuries were the main issue with the Falcons in 2018. The front office failed Matt Ryan by not having any depth this year.

Ryan finished the year with 4,924 yards, 35 passing touchdowns, three rushing touchdowns, 7 interceptions, and a 108.1 passer rating. Given these numbers it is truly astonishing the Falcons had a losing record.

The best part of this season was Matt Ryan’s level of play. This season truly gave us a look at how he is going to end up in the Hall of Fame. Falcons fans will never understand how good he is until he eventually retires.

1. 2016 Season

The best season Matt Ryan has had with the Falcons is the 2016 season. Matt Ryan won MVP, offensive player of the year, and won the NFC Championship game against Aaron Rodgers and the Green Bay Packers.

This season was historic for Matt Ryan as he had 4,944 passing yards, 38 touchdowns, 7 interceptions, and a 117.1 passer rating. His playoff performance was just as impressive as he had 10 total touchdowns in his three playoff games against the Seahawks, Packers, and Patriots.

Super Bowl 51 was disappointing for the Atlanta Falcons but Matt Ryan did not disappoint. The best part of this season was Matt Ryan winning MVP and beating the Packers in the NFC Championship.
