Jalen Hurts could be the quarterback of the future for the Atlanta Falcons
By Joe Beasley
The Atlanta Falcons are blessed to have a franchise quarterback like Matt Ryan, however, there are fans that have grown tired of him and the quarterback position is changing right before our very eyes.
Everyone, including Atlanta Falcons fans, wants their team to have a quarterback that can get out of the pocket and make plays. Matt Ryan can do that from time to time gaining a modest amount of yards but that’s not his strong suit. Quarterbacks like Russell Wilson, Josh Allen, Dak Prescott and soon to be MVP Lamar Jackson have changed the way people look at quarterbacks.
If the Falcons want to follow this trend then they should try to get former Alabama and Oklahoma quarterback Jalen Hurts on the team.
This doesn’t mean they need to go out and spend a high draft pick on him, but if he is available in the later round or possibly even an undrafted free agent, why not take the chance?
We have seen plenty of late-round and undrafted quarterback come in and make a difference so why not Jalen Hurts? If the Falcons still want to involve him in the offense, they can do that while he’s developing.
Look at how the Saints use Taysom Hill in multiple offensive packages. A wrinkle like that would provide something new for an offense that is pretty watered down at times.
Everyone knows he’s a winner and had the pleasure of being coached by one of the greats in Nick Saban and no one should have anything to say about his demeanor and work ethic on and off the field.
He will need some time to mature his game which is why this makes sense for the Falcons. Matt Ryan will be turning 35 this year, which means there’s no rush to play him immediately. After a few years, Hurts could be ready to lead this team.
