Atlanta Falcons have a complete roster heading into 2020
The Atlanta Falcons seemingly addressed every need this offseason.
Better late than never. As players are reporting to start the quarantine process for training camp, the Atlanta Falcons addressed their final need of the offseason – a veteran corner. Not to mention that the franchise has added yet another former first-round pick to its roster.
If you have lost count, that is 18 former first-round picks on the Falcons roster.
This has been general manager Thomas Dimitroff’s best offseason since taking the reins to the Falcons back in 2008 and he put the cherry on top with one day remaining in July. Adding veteran corner Darqueze Dennard not only gives the young Atlanta Falcons corners a veteran in the room but also answers the question of who will be their nickel corner.
After deciding not to bring back former nickel corner Brian Poole last offseason, the Falcons were in desperate need of one. Poole had a very good season in New York last season while the Falcons secondary struggled to replace him in their lineup.
As a franchise, the Atlanta Falcons offer a lot to free agents
Coming from the Bengals, Darqueze Dennard probably does not have the reputation that he should, but a change in scenery, as well as a capable defensive staff like the Atlanta Falcons have, should do wonders for the 28-year-old veteran corner.
The former runner-up in the 100-meter dash at the 2010 GHSA track and field championships should find his services welcome in 2020 and a cornerback room full of young capable players looking for veteran leadership and guidance.
Head coach Dan Quinn has been given all of the tools to succeed in 2020. If there is a season and the Atlanta Falcons are unable to end their two-year playoff drought, Dan Quinn will be relieved of his duties and the Falcons can move on to their sixth full-time head coach since Arthur Blank bought the team in late 2001.
