Atlanta Falcons suffer their worst loss of the year.

The Atlanta Falcons have had several unsavory losses in 2020 but today’s loss to the Saints is the worst of them all.

It seems as if this Falcons coaching staff used their bye week to think of ways to get worse on the field instead of looking for ways to get better.

Atlanta Falcons defensive coordinator should have had a 400-page book of every blitz possible given they were facing a quarterback that had a total of 18 passing attempts in his NFL career – a quarterback that had not thrown a touchdown since his senior year in college – more than 1,450 days ago.

Instead, they were very basic in their coverages and allowed Taysom Hill to 18/23 for 233 yards. He was sacked just three times and hit five other times by this Atlanta Falcons defense.

From bad to worse for the Atlanta Falcons in 2020.

There was a lot of optimism coming off their bye-week of 2020. They were 3-1 under interim head coach Raheem Morris and were playing their best football of the season. When you add in the fact that future hall of fame quarterback Drew Brees was out with 11 broken ribs and Saints head coach Sean Payton was going with an inexperienced replacement player, this should have been a runaway win for the birds.

Instead, the Atlanta Falcons defense gave up almost 400 yards of total offense and allowed the Saints to average more than six yards per play.

The Atlanta Falcons also allowed Michael “Slant Route” Thomas to dominate offensively as he ended the day with nine catches for 104 yards and was clearly the favorite target of Taysom Hill. Thomas came into Sunday’s game with 10 catches and 95 yards in the three games he played.

If it was not abundantly clear coming into this matchup with Saints that Arthur Blank has to get rid of every coach on this staff, it should be more than obvious at this point.

Raheem Morris will be a head coach again at some point in the near future but under zero circumstances should that be here in Atlanta.

Next. Falcons need to value draft position over wins. dark
