Atlanta Falcons fans are subpar, according to data rankings

The Atlanta Falcons have been in a tailspin for the better part of the last three years and fans across the nation are looking towards new GM Terry Fontenot and Head Coach Arthur Smith to pull them from the pit.

It wasn’t that long ago that Atlanta was hopping with buzz as the Falcons played for a Super Bowl and nearly came away with a win- we all know the story- but those days have long been forgotten, at least for right now.

As Atlanta Falcons fans continue to hold out hope for the future, the latest data rankings says that the fan base is subpar to say the least.

Wallet Hub released its latest data rankings compiling the ‘Best & Worst Cities for Football Fans in America.’ The rankings take into account several metrics, including franchise success, average ticket price, fan engagement, stadium capacity, coaches in the last 10 seasons, attendance and popularity index.

The result? Atlanta is ranked as the No. 21 best city for football fans in America.

Atlanta Falcons fans are far too passionate to not even make the top-20

Ahead of Atlanta are 20 cities, all of which have professional franchises. There are only a handful of NFL franchise cities that are behind Atlanta in the rankings, including Las Vegas, Nashville, Tampa, Cleveland, Chicago, Charlotte, Houston, Detroit and Jacksonville.

The top cities in the country for football fans, according to the rankings?

  1. Pittsburgh
  2. Dallas
  3. Boston
  4. Green Bay
  5. New York

NFC South Division rival New Orleans comes in at No. 7 on the list.

There’s no doubt that Atlanta Falcons fans are passionate and Atlanta is a much better city for football than many give credit. The Mercedes-Benz Stadium is a state-of-the-art facility that should be celebrated and there’s no doubt that this fan base is better than many- including these data rankings- give them credit for being.
