#3: WR Laquon Treadwell

The first player internally the Falcons should consider re-signing is actually a surprise pick. Let’s take a look at Treadwell for a moment here. The 25-year-old was a former first-round choice by the Minnesota Vikings and unfortunately didn’t live up to expectations.

Once he was cut by the Vikings, Atlanta decided to give him a chance on a one-year deal and join arguably a deep core of receivers.

While it needs to be said that guys like Julio and Ridley are far better, Treadwell’s playmaking seemed to be a nice complement in the slot with guys like Russell Gage and Olamide Zaccheaus.

While under the Falcons’ watch, Treadwell was mainly a practice squad player at first and also was one of the few that was placed on the team’s reserve/COVID-19 list. This also didn’t help his status, but his determination appeared to show out.

It is true that Treadwell only appeared in five games for Atlanta, yes, but he definitely showed some flashes of working in this offense.

Take a look at this touchdown he scored, which coincidentally was his first catch as a Falcon:

Given the current landscape with guys like Chris Godwin potentially commanding a huge payday, it limits the number of offers Treadwell could receive, if at all. Therefore, if Arthur Smith sees potential in this young man, then perhaps he will enter 2021 as an Atlanta Falcon.

And if he doesn’t, perhaps this former Falcon will swoop down on a southern wind back to the 404:
