5) Hiring Dirk Koetter again

This one still resonates with Atlanta Falcons fans, it essentially wasted two years of Matt Ryan and Julio Jones.

The thought of hiring Dirk Koetter was that Matt Ryan and he know each other well and will be able to hit the ground running like Koetter never left. Part of that may have been true, but nothing could cover up the ineffectiveness and lack of consistency in Koetter’s offense.

He has never been able to establish a ground game when calling plays for teams, and that certainly did not change. The Falcons had one of the blandest offenses in the entire league. Matt Ryan, Julio Jones, Calvin Ridley, and others were basically depended on to make plays, instead of being put in the best position to succeed.

Certainly going from Dirk Koetter’s offense to Arthur Smith’s will make the Falcons have a consistently potent offense again, it cannot get much worse.
