3. Veteran Adrian Peterson still looking for a job in week four

Frank Gore seems unlikely to return to football this season and the remaining top running backs are Todd Gurley and Adrian Peterson. Gurley was with Atlanta last season and had very little left in the tank. Bringing him back only to fail again makes little sense leaving Peterson as Atlanta’s primary option to improve the run game.

Peterson may be a veteran but he is still good for one great game a year and could be used as a battering ram on the goal line. If Atlanta wants to improve they need to add another back to their roster.

Patterson isn’t capable of carrying the load full time and Mike Davis has struggled four weeks into the season. Adrian Peterson would give Atlanta a prayer of establishing the run game and a player who can help maintain long drives.

Atlanta is only going to win games playing keep away, to do that they need a balanced attack that doesn’t rely solely on Matt Ryan. Perhaps Peterson is washed and not the answer, however, what other options does Atlanta have? Could Peterson be any worse than Mike Davis has been? Adding him doesn’t hurt them and could be to Ryan’s benefit.
