Arthur Smith and the Atlanta Falcons must ramp up the aggressiveness

One of the most frustrating things we have seen from the Falcons’ new head coach has been his willingness to run the clock down near the end of halftime—that is not how this team will win games.

He needs to learn that this team possesses most of their talent on the offensive side of the ball and Arthur Smith is an offensive coach, nonetheless!

The defense has been up and down, not just week to week, but quarter to quarter.

Think back to the Buccaneers game when they looked like they had no chance at keeping Tom Brady from throwing for 600 yards, but later on they settled down and were able to consistently stop him, giving the team a chance until late.

Then against the Giants, they won that game solely off of the defense. The defense basically shut down a red-hot Daniel Jones, then they followed it up by getting gashed by Taylor Heinicke a week later.

Shockingly, the offense has also been extremely inconsistent as well, but with that being said, a lot of it has been due to Arthur Smith holding them back. Look what happened against the Jets when Smith finally realized the offense could throw the ball down the field even without Calvin Ridley and Russell Gage. It seemed as though he finally took the training wheels off of his offense.

No one can say that they trust this defense more than the offense week to week. Smith needs to push the gas pedal in every situation, whether there is 40 seconds left in the half or the team is up 20 points going into the fourth quarter, keep the foot on the gas!

Arthur Smith should treat every game like the opposing offense can score a touchdown in a minute, never give the opposing team the ball back with the chance to tie or take the lead in a game, just look what happened against Washington.
