Kawann Short

Injuries have followed Kawann Short around for the last few years and he might quickly be approaching his final shot, possibly in Atlanta? At his best, he’s a wrecking ball on the interior of the defensive line. He had seasons with 11 sacks, 7.5 sacks, and 6 sacks with the Carolina Panthers. The issue is that he hasn’t played more than a handful of games since the 2018 season.

There haven’t been any indications that he’s done with football and, halfway through the season, his options could be limited. The Falcons have numbers at defensive tackle, but nobody outside from Jarrett has shown that they deserve playing time. Tyeler Davison is a run stuffer who has struggled against the run and Marlon Davidson looks like a player still trying to adapt to the physicality of the NFL.

At 32, Short’s upside may not be there, but if he can stay healthy then he’d be an upgrade to the defensive line and provide competence.
