It is a short week for the Atlanta Falcons as they prepare to take on the New England Patriots on Thursday Night Football.

The Patriots have been surging as they come off of a blowout win over the Cleveland Browns, while the Falcons were on the bad side of a blowout game against the Cowboys. The Patriots are among the best-coached teams in the NFL, so they will be a tough challenge for a decimated Falcons team.

If the Falcons are without Cordarrelle Patterson, they will be in big trouble

The Atlanta Falcons need to win this game, it would be the first time that Matt Ryan has beaten the Patriots in his career, not to mention, it will help with all the Super Bowl jokes that are on their way.

However, they are playing Bill Belichick on a big stage, which is nothing short of a tough challenge for Atlanta.

Belichick has been known for his ability to take away an opposing offense’s biggest threat, like someone named Kyle Pitts. And with Bill’s recent comments on Pitts, we know for sure that he will not overlook the talented tight end.

This makes Cordarrelle Patterson’s role that much more important, but unfortunately, he is dealing with an injury that may hold him out of the game, which would be nothing short of costly for Matt Ryan and the offense.

Patterson, if he plays, will be the key to the offense, Belichick is going to focus his efforts on stopping Kyle Pitts—if that is possible—so, Cordarrelle must do what he has been doing all season long—producing yards.

If he does not play, it is not a good scenario for the offense, obviously. It would put a lot of pressure on guys like Olamide Zaccheaus and Russell Gage, both are players everyone expected to produce more than they have.

It was not a good time for Patterson to sprain his ankle, Belichick is going to do everything he can to stop Kyle Pitts, meaning the next man must step up—hopefully, that will be Patterson, not Zaccheaus or Gage.
